About the LISA Project

The LISA (Learn to Inspire with SkillsFit App) project is an innovative initiative aimed at addressing the widespread issue of work-related stress among high school teachers in Europe. This stress significantly impacts teachers’ well-being, classroom climate, and students’ learning experiences. LISA seeks to empower teachers, reduce stress, and foster positive classroom environments by providing them with accessible and effective tools for continuous professional development.

The Problem:

Teaching is a demanding profession, and high school teachers often face numerous challenges that contribute to stress and burnout. These challenges include heavy workloads, administrative burdens, diverse student needs, and the pressure to maintain high academic standards. The resulting stress can lead to decreased job satisfaction, emotional exhaustion, and a negative impact on the overall school climate.

Our Solution:

LISA proposes a unique and innovative solution to address these challenges: a mobile app that delivers daily 10-minute training activities directly to teachers’ smartphones. These bite-sized learning modules focus on enhancing essential soft skills such as communication, positive attitude, classroom management, active learning approaches enhanced by technologies, and empathy. By making professional development easily accessible and time-efficient, LISA aims to empower teachers to manage stress, improve their teaching practices, and create more engaging and supportive learning environments for their students.

Project Goals and Objectives:

  • Increase job satisfaction and reduce stress among high school teachers.
  • Create a positive classroom climate that fosters student-teacher relationships and supports students’ mental well-being.
  • Develop teachers’ soft skills through continuous professional development.
  • Provide an accessible and flexible training solution that integrates seamlessly into teachers’ busy schedules.

Methodology:

The LISA project will follow a comprehensive methodology, including:

  1. Thorough research and analysis of existing literature and best practices in teacher training and well-being.
  2. Collaboration with teachers and students to identify their specific needs and challenges.
  3. Development of a user-friendly mobile app with engaging and informative content.
  4. Pilot testing of the app with a diverse group of teachers to gather feedback and refine its features.
  5. Dissemination of the app and its results to a wider audience of educators and stakeholders.

Expected Outcomes and Impact:

LISA is expected to have a significant positive impact on the European educational landscape. By providing teachers with accessible and effective training, the project aims to:

Ion Ghica’ Economic College

Ion Ghica Economic College is a VET organization in Romania that has a long tradition of providing vocational education. It trains students in marketing, banqueting, tourism, and accounting. Its teachers are well-trained and use interactive methods to provide students with essential knowledge and skills for the workforce.

Open educational resources (OER) are teaching, learning and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions. OER form part of ‘Open Solutions’, alongside Free and Open Source software (FOSS), Open Access (OA), Open Data (OD) and crowdsourcing platforms (UNESCO, 2021b).
